Job Demands and Accommodation Planning Tool (JDAPT): worker and organizational versions now available in English and French

All versions of the Job Demands and Accommodation Planning Tool (JDAPT) are now publicly available. This award-winning tool (see item below) is evidence-based, free to use, and available in both English and French. The worker version of the tool is for workers with chronic conditions who are looking for practical supports and accommodation ideas tailored to their specific job demands. The two organizational versions of the tool are for supervisors, human resources practitioners, disability case managers and worker representatives who are looking for tailored accommodation ideas that will help them support workers with chronic conditions.

Best paper award for JDAPT feasibility study

In 2022, the JDAPT received the grand prize for the MaRS-CIBC Inclusive Design Challenge. Now, a new award has been given to the research behind the tool. A recent publication evaluating the feasibility of the JDAPT has received the 2023 Michael Feuerstein Award for the best paper in the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation. As noted by the editor-in-chief of the journal, the paper was selected for its originality, high quality research methods and its “potential to make a lasting impact to the field of occupational rehabilitation/work disability prevention.”

Report now available: The socioeconomic cost of COVID-19 for, and its impact on, multiple sclerosis (MS) in Canada

ACED partner MS Canada commissioned Deloitte Access Economics to undertake an independent study on the socioeconomic cost and impact of COVID-19 on the MS community. The report provides details on the considerable disruptions the pandemic had on health service access, diagnosis and treatment. It outlines the consequential effects of poor MS health-care services and calls for timely action from policy-makers.

ACED is developing a communication decision support tool

ACED is currently developing a new interactive tool that aims to help workers who live with chronic and episodic health conditions consider important issues in deciding whether or not to share some personal health information with others at work. This tool is being developed with input from research experts, people living with episodic conditions and community groups.
